2001 Prius
(Classic):
Location: MINNESOTA Driving: HIGHWAY MOSTLY Hitch: OCCASIONAL
Fuel: Low-Sulfur E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gas)
Oil:
REAL
NOTE: Around 1,500 miles were driven in 2001 with the hitch supporting a rack and bike(s). That additional weight and drag causes about a 3 to 5 MPG drop. Plus, the hitch itself is a constant source of drag since it is permanently bolted to the Prius frame; that will lower lifetime MPG.
NOTE: "MPG calc'd" is only as accurate as the gas-pump. If it doesn't automatically shutoff at the correct time, the tank won't actually be full which will cause a calculation error. "Lifetime MPG" is not affected by this.
NOTE: The gas tank has a bladder in it to prevent vapor emissions. Having this can cause inaccurate measurement when refilling, especially in cold weather. The result is "MPG calc'd" won't always match the "MPG shown" per tankful, but the difference will balance out to provide a correct value overall. That is the purpose "Lifetime MPG".
NOTE: "Miles" is the amount shown on the multi-display and "Total Miles" is the amount shown on the lifetime-mileage odometer. Both truncate to the whole mile. So sometimes, the values may not match by a few tenths.
